Magang announces converter upgrade plans
Maanshan Iron & Steel (Magang) in China has announced its plan to replace its four 60-tonne converters with two 150t converters, Kallanish notes. The two new converters would have a combined capacity of 3.2 million tonnes/year of crude steel.
Magang intends to start the construction of one converter in November and to commission it in June 2023. Another one will be built between August 2023 and December 2024.
