Longnan Fuxin restarts EAF upgrade project
Longnan Iron & Steel in China's Jiangxi Province restarted its electric arc furnace (EAF) upgrade project after over two years of suspension, and now is again seeking environmental impact assessment (EIA) approval from the provincial environmental department.
New steelmaking equipment remains unchanged from the previous plan. The company expects to replace its two existing 50-tonne EAFs with two 100t ultra high power ones, Kallanish notes.
