Liaoning province publishes blast furnace capacity replacement details
China’s northeastern Liaoning province has recently published several steel capacity replacement plans, according to the provincial government website. In total 4.83 million tonnes/year of iron capacity will be cut and 4.81m t/y of new capacity added, Kallanish notes. This goes against the central government’s mandate however that capacity closures are at least 1.25 times the volume of new capacity.
