Latrobe Magnesium inks binding MOU with SLN
Australian miner Latrobe Magnesium has signed a binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) with French nickel mining firm Société Le Nickel (SLN), for the supply of 450,000 tonnes/year of ferronickel slag for 20 years as feedstock for its 100,000 t/y magnesium plant, Kallanish notes.
Latrobe Magnesium will need in the order of 600,000t/y of ferronickel slag per annum to produce 100,000t/y of magnesium.
