Latin American steel production remains low in May
South American and Mexican crude steel production decreased year-on-year in May, according to the latest data from the World Steel Association (worldsteel) monitored by Kallanish.
South American crude steel output totalled 2.67 million tonnes in May, or -25.8% down y-o-y. During the first five months of 2020 crude steel production was 14.97mt, a fall of -17% compared to January-May 2019.
