LatAm crude steel production falls in May: Alacero
Latin American crude steel production fell month-on-month and year-on-year in May, Kallanish notes.
According to steelmakers association Alacero, regional crude steel production reached 4.42 million tonnes in the month, 295,700t less than April’s volume and down 11.7% on-year. Of this volume, 2.13mt were produced through electric arc furnaces and 2.28mt by blast furnaces. Output in the first five months of the 2024 was 4.5% lower y-o-y at 23.57mt.
