Laiwu Steel closes No.2 blast furnace
Laiwu Steel, a subsidiary of Shandong Iron & Steel Group, closed its No. 2 blast furnace this week. The blast furnace had 860,000 tonnes/year of ironmaking capacity, Kallanish notes.
The blast furnace was completed in 1993 and expanded to 1,080 cubic meters in 2006. It has produced 11.6 million tonnes of iron since it was commissioned.
