Lack of plate demand eroding prices
A prolonged downturn in nearly every major plate end-use sector is likely to keep prices anchored for some time, Kallanish hears from market sources.
Kallanish dropped its plate price Monday to $570-590/short ton, putting it below the hot-rolled sheet range of $580-610/st.
One plate buyer says recent signals from major heavy equipment manufacturers like Caterpillar and John Deere are providing “…no real optimism through 2016.”
