Industrial unrest halts Sidor steel production
Venezuelan state-owned steelmaker Siderúrgica de Orinoco (Sidor) has seen slab and billet production halted for a second week following labour issues, local market sources tell Kallanish.
The local trade union and the company are discussing compensation payments and the further increase of workers' salaries by 25% as from 1 November. This follows a collective agreement approved by Venezuela`s president Nicolás Maduro in June.
