Kungang signs up to cut steelmaking capacity
Southwestern China’s Kunming Iron and Steel (Kungang), which is part owned by Wuhan Iron and Steel (Wugang), has signed a capacity elimination liability statement with the local government. It is due to cut iron-making capacity by 1.25 million tonnes/year, and crude steelmaking capacity by 2.8m t/y before 2016 ends, Kallanish notes.
