Kumba's first-quarter output shrinks on rainfall, maintenance
South Africa's Kumba Iron Ore says seasonal weather-related events (rainfall) and equipment reliability constraints led to challenging operating conditions in the first quarter of the year. Production plunged 21% on-year in Q1 to 8.3 million tonnes, but sales inched down only 8% to 9.5mt thanks to large stocks, Kallanish notes.
