Kumba contracts community JV to mine at Kolomela
South Africa's Kumba Iron Ore, a subsidiary of Anglo American, has awarded a ZAR 1.6 billion ($101.8 million) contract to a new joint venture to mine iron ore at its Kolomela Mine.
The joint venture comprises four 100% black community-owned companies which will start mining operations at Kolomela’s Kapstevel South project in the first quarter of 2022, according to a statement seen by Kallanish.
