Krakatau Steel hot tests iron pre-treatment
Krakatau Steel (PTKS) has successfully completed trials of an iron pre-treatment system. The project was constructed by China's MCC CERI, Kallanish notes.
The project has built two systems to remove sulphur, silicon and phosphorus, with capacity reaching 1.2 million tonnes/year. Each system has a 180-tonne secondary metallurgy furnace which then transfers the purified iron to the company's electric arc furnace.
