Korean shipbuilders turn a corner
The South Korean shipbuilding industry suffered one of its worst years on record for new orders in 2016 and the three major shipbuilders all required some form of government support to stay afloat. 2018 however is giving them hope of a turnaround, with stronger new orders and ship prices already supporting higher steel plate prices, Kallanish notes.
