Turkey’s Kardemir has restarted the production of rebar following the completion of reheating furnace maintenance, the long steelmaker says in a statement seen by Kallanish.

The reheating furnace at the company’s continuous casting rolling mill was shut down for 20 days from 27 May for scheduled maintenance, as earlier reported.

Ex-works prices of Kardemir’s 12-32mm ribbed rebar and 12-22mm round bar remain at TRY 1,423/t ($491/t) and TRY 1,440/t, excluding VAT, according to its latest price list updated on 15 June.

The company’s continuous casting rolling mill has a 600,000 tonnes/year capacity. The company also operates a 400,000 t/y rail/profile mill and recently put into commercial operation a 700,000 t/y bar and wire rod mill at the steelworks in Karabuk. It is also carrying out a 200,000 t/y railway wheel plant project.
