Kardemir sinks to first-quarter loss
Kardemir reported a -9.4% on-year decrease in primary product sales in the first quarter to 567,000 tonnes, despite a 19% increase in liquid steel output to 689,251t, Kallanish notes.
Pig iron sales decreased to 3,480t, while rolled steel products’ sales dropped to 310,440t from 344,640t a year earlier.
In the first quarter, TRY 88 million ($12.9m) was spent on investments, of which TRY 6.6m was for environmental investments.
