Kardemir billet sales growth offsets finished steel decline
Kardemir increased primary product sales 5% on-year in the first quarter to 626,254 tonnes, driven by a 29% surge in billet sales to 277,852t while finished steel deliveries fell -7% to 344,640t, Kallanish learns from the Turkish steelmaker.
Sales of round bar declined -36% in Q1 to 106,000t and bar and rod mill sales inched down -2% to 96,000t. Rail shipments plunged -71% to 11,000t. However, profile sales surged 85% to 131,000t.
