JSW coking coal sales surge in second quarter
Jastrzebska Spolka Weglowa (JSW) saw external coking coal sales rise 17% on-year in the second quarter to 1.86 million tonnes. This was also up 11% on-quarter. This was in contrast to Q1 when JSW favoured thermal coal sales, Kallanish notes.
Overall coking coal production rose 2% on-year in Q2 to 2.78mt, but fell 3% from the previous quarter.
Coke sales rose 5% on-year to 870,000t but fell 8% on-quarter. Production grew 4% on-year and 6% on-quarter to 930,000t.
