JSW boosts earnings despite lower coking coal shipments
Jastrzebska Spolka Weglowa (JSW) posted record earnings in the third quarter, helped by thermal coal market strength, while coking coal and coke shipments declined.
Consolidated revenue doubled on-year in Q3 to PLN 5.15 billion ($1.14 billion), while net profit ballooned over eight-fold to PLN 2.15 billion.
Merchant coking coal sales fell 4% to 1.07 million tonnes, whereas coke sales dropped 8% to 700,000t (see Kallanish passim).
