Jinan relocation remains unsettled
Jinan iron and Steel, part of Shandong Iron and Steel Group (Shangang), has long been expected to relocate outside of the city but political wrangling has clouded the outlook and no firm plan has been announced.
The mayor of Jinan city recently noted that the steelworks should be moved to a coastal location for cost reasons, but officials in Rizhao continue to deny that Shangang’s new capacity there will replace the Jinan plant, Kallanish notes.
