Jigang moves ahead with steelmaking relocation plan
China’s Jinan Steel Company (Jigang), part of Shandong Iron & Steel Group (Shangang), has settled on a preliminary relocation plan, according to a local media. Jigang’s 9 million tonnes/year steelmaking capacity will be replaced by the new 8.5m t/y capacity at Shangang's Rizhao project, Kallanish notes.
The costs of relocation will be around CNY 39.3 billion ($5.89 billion). Of this, CNY 11.7 billion is for resettlement of over 51,000 workers…
