Japan’s steel trade weakens in October
Both imports and exports of iron and steel products to and from Japan fell month-on-month in October due to weaker demand. The two trade flows remained stable or rose a little compared to the same month last year, Kallanish notes.
Exports fell 6.3% from September to 2.78 million tonnes, but were up 11.4% year-on-year, Japan Iron & Steel Federation data show. Year-to-date export volumes were boosted to 28.7mt, an increase of 5.8% y-o-y.
