Japan’s steel imports, exports rise in June
Japanese iron and steel product exports kept rising in June on both a month-on-month and year-on-year basis. Imports also rebounded, according to customs data released by the Japan Iron & Steel Federation (JISF).
Monthly exports totalled 3.09 million tonnes, up 11.1% m-o-m and 27.5% y-o-y. Exports in the first half of 2021 stood at 16.94mt, down 0.8% compared to H1 last year, Kallanish notes. Hot-rolled wide strip was the most-exported product in June.
