Japan’s steel consumption falls in January
In January, Japan’s total steel consumption amounted to 4.87 million tonnes, down 7.3% from December and 1.9% year-on-year, according to data from the Japan Iron and Steel Association (JISF), Kallanish notes.
Apart from consumption of non-reporting companies, domestic consumption and exported volumes fell 1.3% and 2.5% respectively to 3.08mt and 1.72mt.
