Japan's third-quarter steel output to fall 2.4%: METI
Japan’s crude steel output in the third quarter is expected by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) to be 23.49 million tonnes, falling 2.4% year-on-year, Kallanish notes.
Japanese automobile production is forecast to gradually recover in the September quarter and demand for industrial machinery is estimated to be firm. However, a shortage of parts such as semiconductors will push down crude steel production.
