Japan’s third-quarter output forecast to rise 2.2% on-year
Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) forecasts a further on-year increase in national crude steel output and finished steel demand in the third quarter, Kallanish notes.
In a 7 July report, METI predicts Japan’s crude steel output will reach 22.31 million tonnes in Q3, falling 0.5% over Q2 but rising 2.2% from a year earlier. This indicates a y-o-y growth for the seventh consecutive quarter, if it materialises.
