Japan’s June steel imports grow faster than exports
Japanese iron and steel product trade continued to increase in June on both month-on-month and year-on-year bases, while imports were growing much faster than exports, according to data released by the Japan Iron & Steel Federation (JISF).
In June, Japan exported 3.09 million tonnes of iron and steel products, up 2.4% from May and just 0.1% y-o-y. This boosted half-year exports to 16.95mt with a y-o-y increase of 0.1% as well, Kallanish notes.
