Japan’s July steel exports, imports diverge slightly
Japan’s steel imports and exports diverged slightly in July on a month-on-month basis, but they both remained higher compared with a year ago, according to a 31 August report of the Japan Iron & Steel Federation (JISF).
In July, Japan exported 2.78 million tonnes of iron and steel products, which declined 1.8% over June but rose 12% on-year, Kallanish notes. This took year-to-date exports to nearly 19.4mt, a decrease of just 0.2% from the year-ago level.…
