Japan’s cross-border steel trade thrives in February
Both imports and exports of iron and steel products to and from Japan grew year-on-year in February, despite a loss in imports compared with the prior month, according to data from the Japan Iron & Steel Federation (JISF).
Monthly exports totalled 2.63 million tonnes, up 6.6% month-on-month and 2.2% y-o-y, Kallanish notes. This took tear-to-date exports to 5.09mt, 2.6% higher y-o-y.
