Japanese steel imports weaken in February, exports rebound
In February this year, Japanese iron and steel product imports fell both month-on-month and year-on-year, but exports achieved a slight rebound compared to January, according to data from the Japan Iron & Steel Federation (JISF).
Monthly imports amounted to 572,897 tonnes, down 12.9% m-o-m and 8.1% y-o-y, Kallanish notes. However, two-month imports through February rose 4.2% y-o-y to 1.23 million tonnes due to high volumes registered in January.
