Japanese pig iron, steel output hikes in October
Japanese pig iron and crude steel output increased slightly in October from the prior month, but remained lower than a year ago as low demand suppressed activity, according to data released by the Japan Iron & Steel Federation (JISF).
October pig iron production was up 2.9% month-on-month but down 11.3% year-on-year at 5.204 million tonnes, taking total production over January-October to 53.977mt with a fall of 8.1% y-o-y, Kallanish notes.
