Japanese auto output, sales fall in May
Japan saw lower output and sales of automobiles in May, owing to disruptions resulting from Shanghai’s lockdown and parts shortages, Kallanish observes.
Auto production in the country amount amounted 420,233 units in May, down 28% on-month and 16% year-on-year. Total production over January-May was down 15% y-o-y at over 2.96 million units, according to data from the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA).
