Japanese cross-border steel trade rises further
In March, both exports and imports of Japanese iron and steel products rose from February this year. They remained weak on a year-on-year basis however, according to data from the Japan Iron & Steel Federation (JISF).
March exports totalled some 3 million tonnes, up 14.1% month-on-month but down 4.7% y-o-y. This took first-quarter exports to 8.09mt, a decrease of just 0.2% over Q1 of 2022, Kallanish notes.
