Japan sees lowest steel production since 1969
In the fiscal year ending March 2021, Japan produced 82.8 million tonnes of crude steel with a year-on-year decrease of 15.88%, hitting a record low since fiscal 1969, Kallanish notes from the Japan Iron & Steel Federation. The annual production is slightly higher than the previous estimate of 81-82mt.
Japan produced 73.5mt of finished steel over the year, down 14.8% y-oy. The production includes 58.7mt of carbon finished steel, down 13.5% on-year.…
