Japan hikes scrap exports in June
Japan exported 748,609 tonnes of scrap in June, up 7% month-on-month but down 15.2% year-on-year. The second-highest monthly level this year was due to firmer demand from South Korea, Kallanish notes.
Export volume in the six months through June thus came to 4.2 million tonnes, down 14% y-o-y, according to Japan customs data.
