January US steel imports climb 16%

US steel imports appear to have risen about 16% from December to January, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI). Citing both preliminary and permit data from US Commerce Department, AISI says January import permits climbed 16% month on month to 2.696 million short tons.
