Steel shipments from US mills rise in January
January shipments from steel mills in the US increased 4.2% from December, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
January tons shipped reached just under 7.64 million short tons, up 4.2% from December but down -0.9% from January 2017.
Hot-dipped shipments rose 11%, cold-rolled shipments rose 9% and hot-rolled shipments rose 3% month-on-month, the institute notes.
