January steel imports into US post steep rise
US total steel imports appear to have increased in January, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
Citing US Census Bureau data, the institute puts total steel import applications for January at 2.914 million short tons, up 18.9% from December’s final tally. Finished steel import permits totaled 2.306m st, up 22.6% from December.
