Mechel Izhstal doubles stainless steel production on-year
Mechel subsidiary Izhstal posted a 45% month-on-month increase in stainless steel production in July at 1,400 tonnes. This was also nearly twice the volume of stainless output year-on-year, Kallanish learns from the Russian steelmaker.
The total volume of steel of varying grades at the plant in July was 26,000t, a 25% increase compared to the same period in 2015 and a 16% rise in production from June 2016.
