Italian wire rod increases, market uncertain
Italian wire rod producers’ asking prices are increasing month-on-month by €20-30/tonne ($23.2-34.8/t), in line with increasing prices of all steel products in the country. Wire rod prices, however, are seen increasing further following the EU’s imposition of provisional safeguard measures.
Producers may increase quotations substantially for end of August-September delivery. As reported, in August the steel sector in the country shuts down.
