Italian stainless scrap increases on shortage
Italian stainless steel scrap prices are increasing in February by some €50/tonne ($53) on average, driven by an extreme material shortage, sources tell Kallanish.
The longs and flats markets remain stagnant but it is becoming increasingly difficult to find 304 and 316 series scrap in Europe this month. Sellers are also suffering very slim margins due to the high cost of purchasing these grades and are pessimistic about future activity.
