Italian stainless scrap values fall on weakening nickel
Italian stainless scrap prices are losing €40/tonne ($46.1/t) in new January contracts compared to December due to the weakening in nickel prices. This applies primarily to the more common grade 304.
Contracts for grade 304 are being signed with mills at €960-980/t delivered in January, down from over €1,000/t in December. Merchants who can afford not to sell at these prices are neither selling nor buying, Kallanish hears.
