Italian scrap prices uptick
Italian scrap values are increasing by €5/tonne ($5.5/t) after a period of stability. Merchants however are requesting a month-on-month increase of €10/tonne, Kallanish notes.
The scrap market however remains uncertain as domestic long products’ sales continue to be weak in a low-price environment. As negotiations continue, mills seem to be refusing to grant any more increases for their scrap inputs.
