Italian scrap ticks up
Italian scrap prices in spot contracts have increased by €5/tonne ($6) compared to the beginning of the month. The market however remains quiet with mills unwilling to grant increases, particularly rebar makers who have seen domestic rebar prices plunge in February.
Merchants and mills tell Kallanish they foresee a scrap price increase of €15/tonne in March despite some producers’ strong resistance.
