Italian scrap prices flatten amid uncertainty
The market standoff continues this week in the Italian scrap market, with mills not buying in the country.
Sources tell Kallanish that mills have ordered notably lower volumes in March on the domestic and import markets, and requested less expensive grades. Steelmakers continue to be plagued by the high cost of energy, which is eroding their margins. Long steel producers are further increasing prices for all finished products this week.
