Italian scrap prices fall heavily
Italian scrap prices are declining by €20-50/tonne ($23-59) in new contracts compared to the peaks seen at the beginning of August, in line with falling European prices, sources tell Kallanish.
While the sector has restarted working after the August holiday break, scrap sales activity remains slow. Mills are not yet officially communicating their prices as they are adopting a wait-and-see attitude and only small-tonnage contracts are being implemented.
