Italian scrap market quietens, mills refuse increases
Italian scrap prices remain stable compared to last week after climbing at the end of January. Unlike French and German mills, Italian buyers are not willing to pay the most-recent €20/tonne ($22) increases demanded by merchants. The market remains quiet with few transactions, despite steelmakers being reported to be in need of material, Kallanish notes.
