Italian scrap declines, mills foreseen further reducing prices
Italian scrap values are declining €20/tonne ($22/t) in new February contracts. This is in line with falling Turkish scrap prices and domestic long products prices, Kallanish notes.
The Italian longs and scrap markets are particularly uncertain, with mills requesting limited scrap. Some grades have lost €20/t month-on-month but demolition grades usually purchased by rebar makers have lost as much as €30/t.
