Italian scrap import values increase, shortage impacts sales
Italian scrap import transaction prices from France, Germany, Austria and eastern Europe are increasing this month by some €10/tonne ($10.8) versus December, sources in the sector tell Kallanish.
Multiple suppliers however report selling fewer tonnages to Italy this month because of shortages, particularly of E40 shredded and some other grades like E8 new arisings. Demand from Italian steelmakers for imported scrap however is said to be at good levels.
