Italian scrap trade slows amid mill stoppages
Italian scrap prices have increased by some €60/tonne ($65) compared to the end of last month amid steelmaking raw materials shortages as a result of the war in Ukraine.
Prices have however now stopped climbing because most mills in Italy have been forced to idle their facilities due to skyrocketing energy costs, and lack of hot-briquetted iron and pig iron supply because of the war.
